to be held in our offices at
Citypoint, 12th Floor, 1 Ropemaker Street, London, EC2Y 9HT
The primary aims of the course are to give you a good insight into the:
- principles of noise generation and transmission
- acoustic terminology and all of the most common acoustic criteria used in buildings
- principles of noise control in relation to airborne and impact sound insulation
- useful tricks of the trade, including many counterintuitive solutions
09:00 Registration (including Tea and Coffee)
09:30 Basic Acoustics
Including physics of sound; noise weightings; measurement parameters
10:30 Tea/coffee break
10:45 Acoustic Criteria: where they come from and what they mean
Including internal and external noise limits, sound insulation of floors and partitions, sound absorption and room acoustics (including reverberation times) and vibration isolation
12:30 BUFFET LUNCH
13:30 Practical Demonstration Controlling Noise
Including the effects of sound insulation, absorption, acoustic damping and vibration isolation. We will provide a sound level meter so you can actually measure the noise reduction
14:30 Tea/coffee break
14:45 Case Studies and “Tricks of the Trade”
All training materials will be provided. All you need to bring is a scientific calculator (preferably with logarithmic functions), an open mind and a keenness to learn!
