Carbon & Energy
We can help you reduce your energy consumption and carbon emissions to meet your organisation’s own environmental goals and limit your impact on climate change.
Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme
The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme that takes place every 4 years for large organisations in the UK. This includes organisations that employ 250 people or more or have an annual turnover in excess of £44 million and an annual balance sheet total in excess of £38 million.
SRL offers ESOS Lead Assessor services, including energy assessments, energy audits, compliance support, and implementation guidance. We will identify cost-effective energy saving measures to reduce your organisations energy consumption and carbon emissions which will enhance your operational efficiency.
Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting
The Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) framework requires large UK companies to annually report their energy use, carbon emissions and energy efficiency actions. Large companies are those who met two of the following thresholds:
- Employ 250 or more
- Annual turnover greater than £36 million
- Annual balance sheet greater than £18 million
Our consultants will help you to calculate and report energy usage, agree your intensity ratio and prepare an assessment that meets the criteria for inclusion in your annual report.
Carbon Reduction Plans
A Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) is a strategic approach that sets out how your business will reduce its carbon emissions. Our Carbon Reduction Plan guidance includes an assessment of your baseline and current carbon footprint, states your emission reduction targets and details current and future carbon reduction projects. We will identify your emissions which are classified into three categories: Scope 1: direct emissions from your business activities, such as fuel in fleet vehicles. Scope 2: indirect emissions from electricity and heat. Scope 3: all other indirect emissions from sources, such as grey fleet business mileage and waste. This will give your business its net-zero roadmap to meet your emission reduction targets.
Our CRPs are compliant with the requirements of Procurement Policy Note PPN 06/21 Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the procurement of major government contracts. Having a CRP in place that meets this standard will:
- Improve your organisation’s reputation and brand value
- Give your tender submissions a competitive edge
- Reduce your operational costs
- Improve security and resilience against market or national disruptions
- Future proof your business achieving government Net Zero targets
- Make your organisation more attractive to investors
- Provide emission transparency to all your stakeholders
- Help your organisation make informed and realistic carbon reduction goals.
Our consultants will work with you to create a robust CRP that will be tailored to your organisation and align with your sustainability goals.
